Music

The music in worship draws from a variety of traditions and cultures and underscores the liturgical themes appropriate to season and topic. Under the leadership of the Music Director, the music program draws on the musical gifts of members of the congregation, whether it be singing in the choir or small ensembles, playing instruments,, or ringing hand bells. Guest musicians from the surrounding community augment the many musical sounds of the LOUCC congregation. Congregational singing includes music from The New Century Hymnal and Sing! Prayer and Praise, as well as a number of contemporary sources.

The LOUCC Choir is an integral part of Sunday worship, singing a wide range of musical styles. The chamber choir format allows singers to learn a variety of pieces. Singers with all levels of experience and voice types are welcome to join the choir, which rehearses at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evenings.

LOUCC has a three-octave set of hand bells and a group of devoted ringers who rehearse during Advent and Lent to enhance worship during the seasons of Christmas and Easter. Beginning ringers are always welcome!
