Our Faith Development Team organizes weekly church school classes for our youngest attendees. Nursery care is provided each Sunday for children up to 2.5 years old. Children and youth begin each Sunday service in the sanctuary with their families. Activity bags are available in the entryway and help children make connections to their faith.
During most services, children, youth, and teachers are dismissed for church school shortly after the scripture reading. Teachers use The Whole People of God curriculum for the Zoomers (2.5 - Kindergarten), Bloomers (1st - 3rd grades), Loomers (4th - 6th grades) Age appropriate activities, such as art projects and games, are used to help students engage biblical lessons and learn the stories and traditions of our faith.
The Teen Class (7th - 12th grades) meets the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month.
The first Sunday of each month is an intergenerational service and all classes stay in worship for the entire service.
Director of Faith Development
In September 2018, we hired Katie Diaz to be our Director of Faith Development. Katie supports the Faith Development Team through teaching church school classes, coordinating youth activities, and building relationships with our children and youth.
Youth Mission & Service Activities
Youth involvement in mission and service activities is a valued component of our faith development program. Our children and youth raise money each year for the Oregon Food Bank through the church-wide Souper Bowl of Caring event. They also organize a food drive and along with adults in our congregation, volunteer to sort and bag food at the Food Bank. The youth serve dinner at Operation Nightwatch for those experiencing homelessness and help with a variety of service projects around our church and communities.
Each year, a number of our students attend Summer camp at our local Central Pacific Conference camps, Camp Adams in Oregon.
