Green Church
Lake Oswego United Church of Christ has a longstanding commitment to the environment. Recognizing God’s creation and love of the earth, we acknowledge that we have a commitment to care for our planet, its resources, and all living creatures. The current global climate crisis is a reminder that we must act quickly to limit the effects of climate change on our environment.
To that end, we have made specific commitments in our congregational life to protect and nurture our planet and its resources. Among our activities are becoming an Earthwise congregation, constructing a rain garden and bioswale on our property, and making commitments to limit waste and become more energy efficient in our common life.
In June 2024 we voted to become a Creation Justice Church. Read our Creation Justice Covenant here.

Land Acknowledgement
We, the members of the Lake Oswego United Church of Christ, acknowledge that we occupy stolen lands that originally provided sustenance and shelter for the Clackamas Chinook, the Willamette Tumwater, the Wasco-Wishram, the Multnomah, and other Chinookan peoples, as well as the Tualatin Kalapuya, the Cayuse, the Molalla, and other tribes and bands who continue to be our neighbors today. We acknowledge and lament that our ancestors in faith participated in this theft, and that we are the beneficiaries of it. With humility, we pledge to work toward reconciliation with our Indigenous siblings through action and education. As a first step, we have become a Creation Justice church and are actively working to restore this land to good health.
