Developing personal relationships within our local church community is very important to our congregants. To foster these relationships, we have a variety of annual activities where we get together to have fun and develop friendships:
• Talent Show – held annually with an emcee and a large variety of talent, from paintings to demonstrations of martial arts, to songs and music shared by all ages. And, of course, there is food.
• Hanging of the Greens is held the first Sunday of Advent - a time for decorating the sanctuary for Christmas, singing carols, and hanging mittens on the Giving Tree.
• The annual Church Picnic is held each year in a Lake Oswego park with worship outside followed by a potluck picnic and barbeque.
• The LOUCC Golf Tournament, held at a local golf course, is new; it is hoped that it will become an annual event.
• The Women’s Retreat is a long-standing tradition for LOUCC, and is attended by newcomers and long-time members alike.
• Other well-attended events are the intergenerational "Dinners for Seven." These groups have proven to be a wonderful way to really get to know one another. Meals are taken at each others' homes, restaurants, or a park – whatever suits the group at that moment.
• Grubby Sundays happen two or three times a year and are opportunities to roll up our sleeves after worship and do minor repairs, cleaning, and landscape maintenance. And, of course, there is food. |
